Just Need Somebody To Love

Talking to Brittany was so easy for him. They sometimes talked about the most random things and then she would talk about Lord Tubbington or something that happened in dance class. Her passion for dance was inspiring and he liked that she drove herself to try and get a career with dancing. There was many times that he wished he could go up to New York and spend time with Brittany.  After his past college relationships, he really had no hope on other girls. But the thing with Brittany was that she was the sweet, kind hearted person so he would see her being faithful. He smiled wide at the girl seeing as she much more quiet than they were usually on the phone.

As Brittany talked about her mom and when she comes back from Spain, Sam reached out his hand and grabbed hold of her cold hand. “Britt. It’s okay. I’m sure your mom will be here soon.” He informed her not really wanting to see Brittany cry. “I can always keep you company until your mom gets back. If you want” He slipped out biting his lower lip. “I miss my family too. Like crazy I’m going to see them this weekend”

Brittany had always wondered why Sam was being so nice to her, everyone else though that she was just a freak. Stupid, useless and just simply a freak. Even her parents thought so, but she was bound to love her parents and they were bound to love her too. In middle school, they’d bought her Lord Tubbington so that she wouldn’t be alone, because no one wanted to be her friend. She didn’t get to know Santana, or anyone else for that matter, until high school. But in high school, everyone was forced to love her, because of her being a cheerio, and she just never knew if someone genuinely loved her for her. She had no idea what it felt like to be loved, until she joined Glee, and she had no idea what it felt like to love, until she met Sam. Sure, she loved Santana as well, she might still do, but Sam was just.. perfect, somehow.

She blushed a little when Sam hold her hand. His hand was so warm, compared to hers, and she just felt like holding his hand forever. “I know, I just miss her..” She bit her lip and tried not to smile that big at what Sam said. “I’d love that.” She said and couldn’t help but to smile even more. “That’s awesome Sam. You’ll have to say hi to them from me!” She laughed softly and got lost in his eyes. She could literally die happy right now.

Brittany’s hand was so soft and smooth. He could hold her hand for the rest of the time at the restaurant. He didn’t want to leave the place now. But if he was going to go to Brittany’s and keep her company he would be totally okay with that. They would be able to just have a whole house to themselves and or course Lord Tubbington. He always wanted to meet Lord Tubbington. Especially with all the things and stories said from Brittany about him. Sounded like a cool cat. Sam never had any pets so he could possibly cat sit with Brittany. In fact almost every story Brittany told was as interesting as the other. She wasn’t totally smart like people would say but he could tell she had street smarts and actually knew some good things. Senior year when she ran for president she made sense. Well, when he heard about Brittany talking about how society is or what’s going on with woman’s right. Though he just loved the girl in general. She was pretty and just a great person.

Seeing that smile grow wider he couldn’t help but smile with her. “It’ll be fun” He answered. “Yea, I’ll tell them you say hi. I really can’t wait to see Stacey and Stevie.” Sam replied and just stayed in this moment looking at her sweetly and almost thinking they were the only one’s in the diner. Until the waitress came up and brought their food. “Alright.. you two love birds eat up” The waitress said, and he bit his lip and then bowed his head. Until he tilted up his head and smiled lightly at Brittany. Taking the ketchup and putting it on the side for his fries. Eating a couple. “So… tell me more on the dancing. How’s that going?”

Aww, I want to go back there. We can go if you want. Not sure when this wedding is but we can always go up for a weekend?

That sounds totally awesome!

I know right!? Totally freaking awesome!

Right too quiet around here.

Maybe it’s just New York that is really loud.

Sam was thinking back on highschool itself. How it was verses how real things are now. Where he got to and how he ended up in a recording studio and working with some top bands up in California. It was a great thing and something Sam was passionate about. Plus he was passionate about it and didn’t know what else he would be good at. He would try and become a director that would be his fall back but not alot of directors got out there with top movies all the time. But he wouldn’t make so many sequels people would stop watching. Of course not. He needed to get out of his head at the moment and focus on Brittany. Staring at her sweetly. She had that cute smile and nice blue eyes, blonde hair.

She was nearly perfect. Sam smiled at her when the waitress came up with two waters for them. That would be best at the moment. Water. He sipped it gingerly and then set it back down on the table. “I’m just visiting for the wedding actually. But I could stay for a week or so. See how my family is doing. What about you Brittany are you visiting folks?”

Brittany was getting nervous. And cold. So very cold. What was wrong with her? You are not supposed to freeze when it’s warm. Maybe it was because she was nervous. So why was she nervous? Her and Sam had hung out countless times before, so why did this have to be different? It sucked, frankly. She was supposed to be calm around Sam, confident, and now she just wasn’t. She still managed to keep that smile, though. Just looking at Sam’s beautiful face made her smile like an idiot, so that was exactly what she did.

She thanked the waitress and put the glass aside as she listened to Sam. “Oh, cool. No, I’m actually moving back here. Leaving my mom and dad alone her would not be very unicorn of me, so I’m moving back in with them. Well, as soon as my mom comes back from Spain.” She answered, almost starting to cry as she realised how much she actually missed her mother.

Sam was a gentleman and he would open a door for any women or men. He was just a kind hearted person and well his heart was kind of swooning over for one Brittany Pierce. Surely it was hard to try and hang with Brittany before Lima, he was working in the studio almost all the time and she had college for the most part when they first talked. He was one of her supporters that made her day better or even her night. Sam wouldn’t sleep without hearing her voice. Was that a bad thing? Of course she had a great voice to begin with. She did sing Tik Tok and Dance With Somebody when they were all in Glee Club several years ago. But now he could sing a song for Brittany if he could and he would too. She was always a supporter of what song he sang and he caused that was a good thing.

Almost all the time on the phone, he would want to say some sweet or compliment Brittany all the time. He totally would though. He noticed she was shivering and just noticed that cute smile. “That’s good, and I’m alright myself. Glad to hang out with you” He replied to the question she asked. The menus came and he didn’t even open it as he knew what the menu had or should have. ‘Don’t you have grilled cheese?” he asked and got himself a basket. He smiled over to Brittany and just got lost in her smile. “You want the same thing Britt?” He answered back to the blonde or did she want to change the restaurant.

Brittany wondered what was going through Sam’s mind, he seemed kind of dazed off. But he was probably somewhat tired still. Brittany was, and she had almost been her for a week. Still, he was smiling, so that had to be a good thing. She couldn’t help herself but to stare at that stunning face of his. In high school, people always made fun of his lips, which Brittany never really understood. Like, everyone looks different. What’s the big deal? Anyway, she didn’t think he looked anything but beautiful. Of course she had told him that, he went through periods of insecurity’s, just like every other normal person, and friends help each other through those times. Friends.

She couldn’t understand how she managed without Sam for so long in New York. She knew that moving back to Lima was the right choice, even if most of the gleeks just were here to visit for the wedding, she wanted to be here with her mom and dad. Her heart leaped a little at Sam’s reply, because oh, she was more than glad to hang out with Sam. Still, she could never dare herself to tell him that. But she probably would though, she and her goddamn mouth. “Oh, yeah, totally.” She replied, completely unaware of what just happened. She cleared her throat and tried to think of a conversation starter. “So, um, you’re just here visiting or-?”

To be honest, he was kind of excited for Brittany to join him in having a grilled cheese at the diner. They talked a littler before coming to Lima and getting to reunite with the other gleeks. Last night was fun and he only remembered singing a Justin Bieber song only because Quinn said  she wanted to hear the Biebs sing and maybe there was a small chant of people wanting some JBiebs. It was fun for what he remember that he knew for sure. He only kind of hoped that maybe he would’ve hung around Brittany and talked with her the night. He wasn’t sure if they did talk last night or not. Before seeing the rest of the group she would talk about cats or Lord Tubbington and some of the craziest and yet funny things that Sam found endearing. Brittany was cute and well hot as well. He saw past what people said about her being dumb because to him, she was pretty smart in his eyes.

How did this even happen? Starting to feel something for Brittany? They were both blonde and yes she was dancer and sweet. But they found stuff in common to talk about. There were some moments where they talked on the phone for like two hours. Brittany was just a fun and pretty girl that Sam found himself wanting more and more of. So as he got on his purple sweatshirt and got on some shoes he walked up to the diner, he saw her just about to enter the building. So Sam jogged up the door and opened it for Brittany. “Hey blondie. Lets go” He told her as they walked in and found their own sits waiting for menus. “So how are you?”

Walking up the street did give her some time to think, and the first thing that came to her mind was running back to the hotel and tell him that she got sick or something. But when she thought about it more, that would be rather mean towards Sam. So she decided that maybe it was a good thing to meet him, then maybe she could forget about her feelings and move on. Leaving him and Lima didn’t work, so maybe seeing him would. You know, reversed psychology, or something. Maybe she could fool her own mind into thinking that she didn’t like Sam. She wasn’t that smart anyway, so it could work. Also, when she thought about it, Sam was the only guy whom has never called her stupid. He should be honored, it’s not a very easy task. Even the guys in New York didn’t take a single glance at her before she got labeled as stupid. But Sam wasn’t like every other guy, so maybe that was why she liked him.

Sam didn’t have much time for Brittany, since he was a recording producer at some fancy record company. It sucked, it really did, but still they seemed to talk all the time. They never really met whilst she went to school in New York, but they still somehow managed to talk almost every day. And Brittany really needed that while being alone without friends or family in what, the biggest city in USA? She thought that going to a dance college would get her friends with the same interests, but no, why would anything be different from before? Sam was the guy who helped her build up her confidence and making her understand that she wasn’t ugly or dumb, and her new classmates just walked all over it. But Sam wasn’t her boyfriend or anything, so it wasn’t really his mission to tell her that she was pretty everyday.

Just when she reached the diner Sam appeared behind her like magic, and she might’ve jumped a little. “Hi, um, Sam.” She cleared her throat and walked in through the door, thanking Sam for holding it up. The diner wasn’t that fancy, but it had tables and chairs, so that’s good. They sat down at an empty table and shuddered a little. It wasn’t even cold, and she was wearing a thick sweatshirt, so why was she freezing? “Oh, I-I’m.. fine.” She forced a smile. “And you?”

Brittany hoped that when you looked at her you couldn’t see how hopelessly in love she was with Sam. She was good at hiding it, or at least she thought so. But now she wasn’t so sure, she hadn’t seen Sam for so long, they’d only seen each other at the karaoke bar the other night, but that was a different thing. Then they had been a whole group, but now they were going to be alone. So she could only hope for the best and try not to stare at his beautiful face the whole time. It wouldn’t be the easiest thing ever, but she knew that Sam wasn’t interested in her anyway, so what was she supposed to do? She closed her laptop and sighed. Why did she even say yes? Of course, he was her friend and, let’s be honest, why wouldn’t she say yes? She found a gray sweater in her wardrobe and pulled it over her head. It may be warm outside, but Brittany’s always freezing for some reason. It’s strange.

When she walked out of her hotel room, that guy living next to her gave her a weird look as he always did when they passed each other. She shrugged it off and kept on walking towards the stairs. What if this was going to be really awkward? What if they would have nothing to say to each other? What if she was going to become weird again like she usually does and just blurt out that she likes him? Then he’ll be freaked out and they’ll never talk again. Stop over thinking! She took a deep breath and opened the front door. And as she thought, it was cold. Or maybe it wasn’t. Well, she thought so anyway. She couldn’t remember when meeting Sam was this big of a pressure. He was usually the only person she could really be herself with; someone who understood all these dorky things. They had tons in common, and they always had fun together, so what was she really afraid of?
